My seat's cracked -- where can I get a seat?
Cracked, split seats are a chronic problem on
all
old Hondas, not just the CT-90 and CT-110, but it seems like I've seen more CTs with trashed seats simply because the bikes are often stored outside. Age has everything to do with it, mileage does not. My 1981 CT-110, with only 910 original miles, is starting to crack because I left it out a few times in the last year.
Once they start cracking across the seams, there's really nothing you can do to stop it. Once a crack opens, the foam underneath will start to degenerate, turning into sort of a powder and eroding away. You must recover the seat as soon as possible, or you will also have to replace the foam. Try

for replacement seat covers. Replacing the foam is a pain in the butt mostly due to the profile you need to match. If your seat pan (the sheetmetal stamping everything else sticks to) is shot, you're better off buying a clean replacement and re-covering it.
If you're really serious or are doing a restoration, there' s a place in Kitchener, Ontario that will professionally re-cover and restencil your seat for under a hundred bucks.

.
What's more, they also sell a neat little stencil for about four bucks that you can use to re-stencil the back of your seat with the Honda logo, and sell micro-thin logo decals if you don't want to mess with paint. This stuff comes up on eBay often, but save yourself the hassle and buy direct.
Many early CTs came with seats that had white piping and a chrome strip around the bottom. If your chrome strip is rusted out, and you just want A SEAT, regardless of authenticity, you might be able to get a CT110 seat through a Honda dealer. The mounts should be the same, but of course, like most dealer parts, you'll pay for it.
