1979 Red CT-90 K9

This is the end of the line for the CT90. In 1979, this was the state of the art. This bike has black bars, black headlight, black hubs, black rear shock springs, and body-colored plastic. The mirrors are round chrome, the rear footpegs are present, but there's no buddy seat.

An interesting detail is that instead of being bare metal, the cover for the subtransmission is now black. This bike has the newer-style shift lever (no pedal in the front, just a lever with a rubber stop). It also has the optional extra fuel can.

This is a great picture of the engine and gearbox. Note the black subtransmission cover, the polished side cover, and a part that's out of place: this bike should not have the earlier altitude-compensation carb! But this is a good picture of it. It's located just above the float bowl, there and says PULL on it. The older-style metal choke lever can also be seen just to the rear of it. This bike should have a plastic choke lever. A little-noticed item is a vent out the top of the transmission case that goes to a tube that feeds up into the air intake.
